A curve developed for the seated body
Swedese dates Yngve Ekström's Lamino to 1956. Its history describes a prolonged search for the chair's curve, with the person sitting in it as the starting point. The design emerged at the Vaggeryd factory, where Swedese says it continues to make the chair. [1]
Laminated frame, suspended support
Thin veneer sheets are pressed together into curved components. After sanding and finishing the frame, armrests and legs, a supporting fabric is stretched between the sides and the chair is upholstered. This separates the shaped timber structure from the flexible support and the visible covering. [1]
A documented change of timber
For its 80th anniversary in 2025, Swedese announced a Lamino edition in pine from Dalarna with Swedish sheepskin. The announcement limited it to 80 chair-and-footstool sets for the Swedish market. This documents a particular edition; it does not establish that the edition remains available. [2]
